KLMBGC Tackle Football Program
Congratulations to Coach DeBerry, assistant coaches, team managers, team moms, parents and most of all, the players of the 14U football team for winning the 2012 Prince Georges County Boys & Girls Club County Championship and the Metropolitan Superbowl. Way to go team!!!
The Kettering-Largo-Mitchellville (KLM) Football Program is one of the sports sponsored by the club. Our goal is to teach the game of Football while instilling the value of team building, sportsmanship and good old fashion fun for the ages of 5 to 16.
In keeping with our commitment and dedication to the youth of the Kettering, Largo, and Mitchellville communities, the KLM Boys & Girls Club is providing you with information on our upcoming football season. For starters, Terry Cotten & Alton Weaver will take the helm as our new football commissioners for the upcoming 2012 season.
Are you ready for some football? KLMBGC kicks off its football season with a football camp on July 16-19, 2012. Come out and be apart of a day filled with lots of fun!
REGISTRATION:
- You may register online for the sport of your choice via this link
- You may register in person on the second Wednesday or 3rd Tuesday of each month from 6:30 until 8:00pm at Kettering Middle School
- You may register at football camp or during the first two weeks of practice on the field.
Registration Fee:
$125.00
$10.00 late registration fee
We highly recommend that you register online. Also, register early so you will not incur an additional fee. Remember, you must be registered before you can play!
Weight Classes:
The 2012 KLMBGC Football Program will offer the following age and weight classes:
- Ages 6 & 7 based on age/weight – Must be 6 years old by Sept 1, 2012. Also, can not turn 8 before Jan 1, 2013.
- UNLIMITED WEIGHT FOR : 8 & Under, 10 & Under, 12 & Under, 14 & Under, 16 & Under
Practice Information:
Largo HS – 6-8pm Monday – Friday, starting:
July 16 – August 12, 2012.
July 16-19, 2012 (Football Camp)
PLEASE NOTE: Practice moves from Largo HS to Watkins Region Park on August 13, 2012.
Watkins Regional Park – 6-8pm Monday – Friday, starting:
August 13 – End of Season
Pre-Season Games:
The 2012 pre-season games will be played at Watkins Regional Park. The schedule is as follows:
August 11 – Jamboree (controlled scrimmage)
August 18 – Full Scrimmage (with officials)
August 25 – Full Scrimmage ( with officials)
September 1 – Full Scrimmage(with officials)
Equipment Requirements:
You must purchase football cleats, support cup, girdle with pads and black practice pants. KLMBGC will lend you the following equipment: shoulder pads, knee and thigh pads, game jersey, game pants and helmet. Also, we will give you a practice jersey to keep. No uniforms or equipment will be issued until registration is paid in full.
Family Participation:
The KLMBGC and its Officers urge you and your family to participate in our programs. And we advocate the partnership between the books and the ball.
Adults Get Involved – Become a coach, referee, team parent or more. We always have room for dedicated volunteers and your help is always needed and appreciated. Last year we had over 1,800 participants and we expect this year to be bigger. Please contact us to find out how you can give back to your community.
Parents – We need you to handle down markers during the games, assist coaches with administrative work, coordinate team refreshments, encourage additional parent participation, help find sponsors and make our season exciting for our kids!
