1. THE GOAL IS EQUAL PLAYING TIME FOR ALL PLAYERS. AS A MINIMUM, EACH PLAYER MUST PLAY THE EQUIVALENT OF ONE QUARTER!
2. Substitutions:
A. NO substitutions except for injuries.
B. A coach may freely substitute during the fourth quarter ONLY IF all players have played a full quarter by the beginning of the 4th quarter.
C. Injured players:
(1) The coach must attempt to return the injured player to the game as soon as possible.
(2) If the injured player returns to the game within a reasonable amount of time (1 minute or the next possession), there will be no requirement to make-up time lost.
(3) If the player cannot return within a reasonable amount of time, time lost MUST be made-up in the 4th quarter.
D. Any players that have not played by the 4th quarter must play the ENTIRE quarter. The practice of not using a player until the fourth quarter does NOT represent the goals and spirit of the Intramural Basketball League and its use will be closely monitored.
3. Full court pressing:
A. Teams can only press during the 4th QUARTER of play.
B. A team that has a lead of 20 Points or more is NOT allowed to press.
4. Lane Violations: 3 SECONDS
5. Fouls
A. A player fouls out of the game on the next foul after the 5th individual foul.
B. A team takes a “1 shot” bonus when the opposing team receives 7 team fouls and a “2 shot” bonus after 10 team fouls.
C. Technical Fouls
(1). Slamming or throwing the ball
(2). Dunking the ball or hanging on the rim.
(3). Any player wearing jewelry during the game.
(4). Improper uniform wear (sagging pants, etc.)
6. Game Clock
A. THE CLOCK RUNS CONTINUOUSLY EXCEPT FOR:
(1) Dead balls during the LAST 2 MINUTES OF THE GAME unless there is a lead of 20 points
(2) Shooting Fouls
(3) Time Outs
(4) Injuries
(5) End of the Quarter and Half Time.
B. 7 minute quarters for juniors. 8 minute quarters for Seniors. The quarter break is 30 seconds. Half time is 3 minutes
C. Each team has three 20 second time outs per half. 1 additional timeout during overtime.
7. There is no overtime during the regular season.
A. At the end of regulation, each team will select 3 players who will each take 1 shot. The team of the players that makes the most baskets out of 3 wins the game. If the shoot off ends in a tie, the game ends in a tie.
B. There will be 3 minute overtimes during the post season.
8. Uniforms: Only players wearing the issued uniform will be allowed to participate in games
9. CONDUCT
A. ABSOLUTELY NO YELLING OR ABUSIVE LANGUAGE CAN BE DIRECTED AT OFFICIALS BY PLAYERS, COACHES, OR SPECTATORS.
(1) Coaches and Players: Technical Foul for the 1st incidence, ejection from the game for the next incidence.
(2) Spectators: Warning for the 1st incidence, ejection from the gym for the next incidence
(3) The referee will impose these penalties
B. Swearing, Fighting or Blatant attempts to injure another player will warrant immediate ejection from the game.
